The Naval Golf Association (NGA) organises events such as the RAN Championship (scratch and nett), Sir David Martin Charity Day, Admiral Treloar Trophy (Officers vs Sailors), NSW Navy Interservice team and the Sir David Martin Midweek Competition.
The RAN Championship is conducted annually by stroke play over a course selected by the Committee. The winner will be the RAN Open Champion. The RAN Nett Champion will also be contested by personnel with a current AGU/LGU handicap. Eligibility is open to all Naval uniformed RAN personnel, which includes PN, CFTS personnel and Navy Reserves.
In order to foster good relationships within the community, the NGA supports the ‘Sir David Martin Foundation’ and also hosts an annual charity golf event, which is held in the Sydney area. All regional representatives are strongly encouraged to embrace this philosophy in their own regions.
The Admiral Treloar Trophy is the annual Officers v Sailors event. The Admiral Treloar competition was first held in 1982 and won by Sailors.
The Sir David Martin Midweek Golf competition is held annually in NSW and is contested by teams from HMA Ships KUTTABUL, ALBATROSS, CRESWELL, a combined team from other Sydney Establishments (Watson, Waterhen and Penguin), Army(Holsworthy) and RAAF(Richmond) personnel. Sea going personnel can also participate and are welcome to nominate to play with any RAN team.
State Interservice competitions are played annually between representative teams from the three Services.
